Why Expositional Teaching?

We believe the best way to know God and become

strong in our faith is to study the Bible.

Did you know that all 66 books of the Bible are relevant and point us harmoniously to Jesus?

In our services at Calvary Chapel we teach the Bible in a simple and systematic way.  We go chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse, and book-by-book through the whole Bible; the Old Testament and the New.  We believe this is how Jesus' followers can really experience the clarity and power of the Scriptures, and in turn we can know Him and worship Him in spirit and truth.

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man (or woman) of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work"   1 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV

We have personally found there is no greater way to be spiritually healthy, strong, and equipped in our faith, than to consistently enjoy clear Bible teaching, and to respond by trusting God to help us put it into action.

"Expository" teaching simply means to expose what is already there in the Bible.  There is a huge difference between preaching from the Bible, and actually teaching the Bible itself.

Teaching the Bible means the sermon is formed around the Book and passage we are studying at the time.  This consistent line-upon-line style helps us discover what God has said in it's true context, weight, and emphasis.  It helps us avoid changing the meaning of the Bible, using verses to promoting our own ideas, or even just cycling through or favorite topics.
